Reminiscing past poems and quotes

Tonight, I have been going through some old poem documents I have either written myself and also written by others, that I saved through the past several years. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share some of them with you. Enjoy!

For the love of summer:

Nov 27, 2001

A special sweet scent over flows the air

A scent of Summer's delight:

where the air is warm and the sea is calm.

It gives a perfect setting - beauty!

A bird gives its lovely tune on each a summer day,

giving it's beautiful harmony voice.

Every morning when I awake, I see kids

playing in the mist of summer air.

High o'ver vales, beneath the green trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the noon breeze.

Children play among those summer hills;

Smiling giddly, as they play.

From leaf to leaf; tis sweet on high.

Lovely aroma smells of roses rule the air.

With a spray of some mist.....

views a perfect setting of a sweet Summer's Mist

The person I long to be….

The day light breaks again
Another day has begun.

But still no sleep has come.
My body is weary

My mind overworked.
I lie awake thinking

But what I am unsure.
I need to break free from the cycle I endure.

Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.
I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide

Unable to break free from the everyday flow.
This is not me I need to change, before time takes over

And I am unable to change.
I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary

And become that person I have always longed for.
Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake.

Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.
Make changes in my life and help those in need.

I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way
And leave my mark on society before I fade away.

Lose/Win

I have known the pain of
failure
frustration
disappointment
defeat

Because I have taken a chance on
winning
succeeding
achieving

It takes a lot of the first to get some of the second.

The world and your patience

With the hot summer months brewing among us now - it is hard not to get excited for the upcoming summer events people take advantage of: picnics, camping, fishing, eating, reunions, family gatherings, 4th of July, graduations, and the most popular seasonal event-- swimming. As an associate at Walmart, it is our job to deal with these seasonal festivities and make sure we have the merchandise appliances for customers to enjoy at those special occasions. Some people don't realize all the time and effort it does take to display modulars and features so customers can "grab and buy" those certain products.

Yes, the summer months have been busy at Walmart. Which means.... schools out for the summer! Which means... you start to see more and more little kids out and about. Seriously, if I was a mom, out in this world, I would go nuts. lol. To be honest, I have seen the most selfish, brattiest kids within these past couple weeks. I have had kids screaming, yelling, running around in the store like its a playground. And some of them would even hide and crawl around the clothes racks! Its irritating... but, yet, I know my patience is being tested. I can't help but feel sorry for the kids, because they just have no idea, and the poor things have been raised to do whatever they please. You are also seeing more kids having kids and it is discouraging.

There were some nights I have to close up the fitting room and last night was one of them. Well... it was about 15 minutes til 10, and we close at 10, this was the time that several of these teenage girls decide to try on clothes. Trying not to show my impatience, I let them in and finish up tidying everything. As I came back to check on them, after they left, I look inside the rooms and there were the clothes scattered on the floors and also among the seat benches! I was infuriated, but I realized my patience was being tested again. Everyday its been a struggle and I am learning how to deal with things and people. I realize, while just working, you are constantly growing in character. You can be doing a very simple task but your attitude, actions and demeanor is definitely presented in the world and are constantly being tested. I also answer phones too. And how you answer says a lot about yourself as well. We are to make our light shine. It can be a struggle but someone's got to do it! So, have that customer service attitude and the fruits will start to show more!

Speeches, pretty dresses, men and ladies and delicious food!

On June 19th, 2011, the Spokesman club assembled for their final meeting in Peoria, IL in the central Northeast region. This was a very special occasion because it was not only their final club meeting of the season but it was also a Ladies Gala, where they brought their wives and special dates to the event! The day couldn't have been any better. The men did an exceptional job at putting forth the effort to making the Gala a huge success. And I believe everyone was well pleased. Both the director Mr. Culpepper and his assistant Mr. Cocomise were there to commence the meeting. I had the opportunity of going up and experiencing listening to five different speakers bravely give their speeches. A lot of them were filled with humor and entertainment. All three of the rewards that were given that night were handed out to three men coming from the St. Louis congregation:

1. Jesse Frederick - Most improved Speaker
2. Randy Woemmel - Most Effective Speaker
3. Gerry Frederick - Most Effective Evaluator

Jesse's speech was very informational and gave a speak with purpose speech on "Effective resume writing." This is very beneficial to those that are in demand in finding a job and on the verge to write up a resume. He gave some very helpful tips on being specific in when looking for a job. Narrow your search and pick the company that would best suite you and research them! Really be specific in the position you want to apply for. He also gave another point in adding your skills and accomplishments and really allow them to shine in your resume. Don't be afraid to let the company know your accomplishments and skills in life. They really look at those.

Mr. Woemmel's speech was geared towards "Being a laborer for God's work." He encouraged us to put forth the effort to shine and to be an example to this world by the acts of serving at different fundraisers. This is the way to allowing our light to shine and to really be a light to this dark world. The speech was quite inspiring and very good.

The day overall went very well! Both Mr. Culpepper and Mr. Cocomise ended the meeting with splitting their lecture into two parts giving them both on male christian leadership and how very important and vital a male's role is in the God family!

The delicious food, the fellow-shipping, the speeches, the topics were very good. And I very much enjoyed it. Steven Privratsky asked me to be his date and I happily accepted. I am glad that I had the opportunity to go to one again... for the last time I was at one was down at AC, which was over a year ago.

Time just goes by soo fast. I can't believe I have been home for a year now! I look back, and think, sometimes, what have I really done this year? lol.. Mostly, work. I have been able to get back into some schooling and job searching again... but I guess that can be saved for another blog...

I need to get some sleep... i am tired. Night!!

The black and white Feature!

With this big, (everyone's talking about!), soon to be blockbuster hit: The Green Lattern, starring Ryan Reynold's, its made me want to go back into memory lane. First off, Green Lattern is about this test pilot that is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. I haven't seen it yet or anything. I just know its going to be a big summer hit. Just like all the other Superhero shows that have made throughout the years of moving making: Batman, Superman, Spiderman (my favorite by the way!) Iron Man, Fantastic 4, just to name a few. It seems to be popular throughout generations and people can't get enough of it. Everyone loves a hero; someone they can admire and look up to.

So, to begin, you are probably wondering, why is she bringing this up for? Is it necessary to post a blog about it? With the Green Lattern coming out this weekend, its made me think waaaaaay back in time to the corny, cheesy and hilarious black and white feature film: Batman and Robin (the 1949 version). Yes, 1949! Ha. The first time I watched that movie was at my Grandpa and Grandma's house. My cousins, Jacob and Jared and I would lay on our Grandpa and Grandma's bed and watch it. I remember my cousin, Joseph, getting into it and always wanting to watch it whenever he came and visit Grandpa and Grandma. He was big on collecting batman action figures and always seemed to purchase them when different versions came out. Its just a way of showing his appreciation and devotion towards the heroic figure. Haha.. my brothers even had their fine share of batman figures and losing them here and there.

The 1949 Batman and Robin 15 chapter feature film is very low budget but entertainingly hilarious and fun to watch. Yes, its cheesy and can be corny. But, you know, good humor and wholesome entertainment is nice to watch once in awhile. And think of the creativity back then. Yes, they didn't have the effects they do today, but you have to admire their hard work, effort and art of it. They made this movie four years after world war II! Its just a good, fun filled movie that kids could enjoy and then go back and re watch them on YOU TUBE years later.... haha. Its definitely a first step into what was and to now what is showing 0n the silver screen today.

The work of workouts..

Today has been the usual: work and working out afterwards. I usually try to go to the club at least 3-4 times a week. Due the summer months, my hours have been increasing and therefore sometimes its harder to schedule in time to workout. There are also times I have not been up to it either. This needs to change. I realized since its been getting hotter I have been slacking off going, or if I do go, its usually for 45 minutes... when I was working out for over an hour. I just need to keep motivated. I also like having a workout buddy and having someone to talk with. Usually, someone to keep you more motivated inquires you to push yourself even more. If I end up at the gym on a mid afternoon (like maybe before I go into work) my motivation dwindles. However, I know that should not be an excuse and that is why perseverance is the key. I must not allow this heat to get to me and use it as an excuse either. So.. unto beating the heat and sweating off the calories!!

The Tobago experience

Last year's feast of 2010, I had the privilege of going Tobago for the very first time. This was such an amazing experience for me because it gave me the opportunity to travel overseas and to a third world country too! The experience was unforgettable and quite amazing. I enjoyed myself immensely and it gave me the opportunity to get to know the unique and very friendly brethren that were down there. The brethren were different from anyone I ever met. The most admirable and down to earth people you will ever meet.

Tobago is home to gorgeous beaches, diving, jet-skiing and mountain sightseeing. The area has much to offer its visitors. The Caribbean evokes images of coconut trees, beautiful beaches, reefs, water sports, and many scenes. It just so breathtaking - like a picturesque paradise! Lushes trees and very beautiful coral reefs under the Caribbean ocean. On one of our excursions out on the island, we had the opportunity to go snorkeling. It was my very first time and it was so much fun! I was able to see all the amazing coral underneath the ocean. The view was spectacular and awesome. I cant describe how radiant the colors were and how mesmerized I was to see such coral. The goggles I wore made the view look so clear... i never seen such clearness underwater. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Tobago... I definitely would. Its an opportunity of a lifetime not to past by on. The view, the brethren, the cultural experience is definitely worth it. It also allows you to see how Americans tend to take their country for granted! We have so much here!! And we don't appreciate the wonderful blessings God has giving this country!! Going to Tobago was an educational experience I will not forget!

Start blogging...

When I took a basic web design course this past spring, our instructor really pushed blogging and made it a homework assignment. I thought this was interesting because it gave me the experience of learning more about blogging and also starting my own online journal. I was determined to keep up with it and everything. Well, weeks go by and then eventually months....and I realized, I have not made a blog entry since February! How discouraging is that??? And even with the time I spent designing my blog, I thought for sure - " hey! why not keep this going?" I need to continue to blog more. I think it would be good and inspiring for me...

I have started to read other people's blogs and it even motivated me more to want start it up again. And to continue on... to further my ideas, dreams, goals, accomplishments and to really appreciate life to its fullest and to make the most to what I have.
